Oh The Blarney Stone

Oh The Blarney Stone

St. Patrick’s Day brings out the green in everything. From green beer, to painting yourself green, the holiday has really escalated in the US. When I was a little girl, ST. Patrick’s day didn’t have as much hype and decorating as it does now. One of the first things that comes to mind when I think St. Patrick’s day, aside from green, is the Blarney Stone. Oh The Blarney Stone!

From tales of kissing the stone to how it came to be, I consider the Blarney Stone to be the king of its castle. According to legend, kissing the Blarney Stone gave the person the “gift of gab”. This single block of bluestone in the Blarney Castle has created stories for centuries.

While you are throwing back that green concoction this St. Patrick’s day, consider this… what is the Blarney Stone of your castle?

Is it the beautiful 50 year old oak tree in your yard? Or the stunning marble foyer entrance? What is that one thing in your home that gets everyone’s attention?

For me, I think the one thing that is the Blarney Stone of our castle is the large commissioned swordfish that hangs high on our wall and made by a local artist. It brings color and that little bit of quirkiness to our living room space.

Every home has a King and/or Queen. And every home has it’s “Blarney Stone”. I can’t promise that kissing your Blarney Stone will give you the “gift of gab” but it will surely strike up conversation! Cheers to your Blarney Stone!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Enjoy the green!
