The Jersey Shore Pot O’ Gold
Heading in to March, and keeping with my color themed thoughts… this is the Green month in my mind. This probably started because of St. Patrick’s day when I was a kid and all the green decorations out there that come with the holiday. However… green also means many other things… like money, growth, and new beginnings to name a few. So what is the Jersey Shore Pot O’ Gold you ask?
If you like chasing rainbows looking for the Pot O’ Gold.. look no further… you may not have found that Pot O’ Gold at the end of the rainbow, but… if you own a home at the Jersey Shore, I can assure you that you have found the infamous Pot O’ Gold! Whether its your primary home or second home at the shore, or it is simple or extravagant …you have struck gold. At least in my opinion you have.
You see, living at the shore is what many dream of. They are drawn to the serenity of crashing waves and sand (white gold) between their toes. Metaphorically speaking… there is gold all around. No matter where you live, if you take some time and head out to look at the world around you, you will find something that you may not have known about. Whether its a secret waterfall, a creek to canoe in or a beautiful path to walk there’s a gem in every surrounding. The Jersey Shore to me is my LBI or my Beach Haven West… the areas I grew up in.
If I could fill my own pot with the gold around me, It definitely would be overflowing. Everywhere I look, there is something to see, feel or touch. From the wildlife preserves where I see beautiful species of birds, to the clammers who bring up another type of gold that I love… clams! To the kayakers in the creeks, the beautiful summer winds that Frank Sinatra sings about and the bevy of wonderful restaurants in the region. I can go on and on about what there is at the Jersey Shore.
As I previously mentioned… green has other meanings too. The growth of flowers and trees as the season begins rolling toward warmer weather. The replenishment of our beaches, the opening of the campgrounds, seasonal businesses and landscaping clean up. It’s like the iconic “hustle and bustle of the holiday” only its the hustle of preparations for the upcoming summer season. Our region grows every year with new businesses and changes. Come see for yourself and find the gold to fill your own pot.
